I am the author of the series, The Adventures of Kicker and Flinnder. It has been my pleasure to write these stories and to work with the incredible artists, Karen Kmetz Bronowski and Matt Stinnett. We look forward to bringing you many more adventures.
Dear friends and fans we have been social distancing and this has led to the delay of the release of our new adventure, “The Rescue of Meep”. We hope to have this, our greatest and bravest adventure yet, available by mid May. We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Remember, we are all in this together.
Copies of Kicker and Flinnder’s latest adventure are available now!
See how helping is just a way of life in the Golden Meadow. Young and old, friends help friends in big and small ways.
This is a light-hearted story where we meet the new character Lily the little brown bat. When she is unsure of what to be for Halloween, Kicker and Flinnder help her decide.
Each of the friends have managed to find costumes that fit their personalities perfectly. From Spike the dragonfly as a fighter jet and Terry the three-toad tree toad as a clown and Hawkeye the five-spotted hawkmoth as the famous English detective Hemlock Shores, our characters look fantastic in their costumes!
This story has considerably more verbiage than previous stories. Where our previous five books have targeted readers up to third grade, Halloween Helpers will prove a good read for fourth and fifth graders as well.
This is the first book illustrated by Matt Stinnett. Matt has stayed true to our beloved characters with a fresh new style. His illustrations practically jump off the pages. Kicker and Flinnder are really enjoying working with him. They are already talking to him about their next adventure.
Matt and Ms. Meyer have discovered that they have much in common. As well as both being life-long Hoosiers, they share a Halloween birthday! They look forward to bringing a new adventure to you in spring of 2020!
With the retirement of Ms. Bronowski, Ms. Meyer had the daunting task of finding a new illustrator who could stay true to our characters while bringing the same level of creativity. Through the recommendations of others Ms. Meyer was blessed to find the talented Matt Stinnett. Halloween Helpers is their first collaboration and Ms. Meyer could not be happier with the outcome. (Please read more about Matt on his Facebook page Matty’s Mayhem.) Matt and Bonnie have found that they have some very interesting things in common, particularly that they both have birthdays on Halloween. It was perfect that their first collaboration would be Halloween Helpers.
Growing up in a large family, surrounded by brothers, sisters and cousins, gave Matt a happy childhood and the fertile imagination that led him to a life in the arts. Matt is a 1986 graduate of The American Academy of Art in Chicago, IL. He has been working as a freelance illustrator and graphic artist ever since.
He also enjoys acting, song writing and music performance, when time allows. Matt is a lifelong resident of Lowell, Indiana where he and his wife Jenny raised their son Benjamin and their daughter Katie.
Author Bonnie J Meyer has been leading mission teams from the Crown Point, IN, First United Methodist Church to the island of Roatan, Honduras every year since 2011. During her most recent trip, working on a new Methodist church in the town of West End, she introduced Kicker and Flinnder to a new friend, Richard from Texas.
Kicker and Flinnder wish everyone a very good morning and happy day. They are so pleased with how well their new story is being received. Here are photos of their friend Gus being introduced to “Hawkeye, the Five-Spotted Hawkmoth” by his Grandma Jean.
Kicker and Flinnder would like you to meet their new friend Hawkeye the Five-spotted Hawkmoth. Hawkeye is from another country and he speaks a little different than Kicker and Flinnder.
